ConvoResume ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our AI-powered resume building service.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (hashed). If you sign up with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.

Resume Content

We collect the information you provide to build your resume, including personal details (name, email, phone, location), work experience, education, skills, and any other content you enter through chat or the form editor.

Uploaded Files

If you upload an existing resume (PDF, DOCX, or TXT), the file is processed in memory to extract text. The original file is not stored — only the extracted structured data is retained.

Chat Conversations

Your conversations with the AI assistant are stored to maintain context across sessions and improve your experience.

Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage analytics (pages visited, features used) and track AI model token consumption for cost management.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To generate and refine your resume through AI-powered conversation
• To render and export your resume as a PDF document
• To save your projects and resume versions for future editing
• To send account-related emails (verification, password reset)
• To analyze usage patterns and improve the product
• To monitor costs and prevent abuse

3. Third-Party Services

Your data is processed by the following third-party services:

• AI Language Models (Anthropic / OpenAI): Your resume content and chat messages are sent to third-party AI providers to generate and improve your resume. These providers process the data according to their API terms of service and do not use your data for model training.
• Supabase: Database hosting, authentication, and file storage.
• Browserless.io: PDF generation from your resume HTML.
• Upstash: Rate limiting and caching infrastructure.
• Sentry: Error tracking to identify and fix bugs.
• PostHog: Product analytics (page views, feature usage).
• Langfuse: AI model performance monitoring and cost tracking.
• Resend: Transactional email delivery (verification emails).

4. Data Retention

Your resume projects, chat history, and account data are retained until you delete them. You can delete individual projects from the dashboard or delete your entire account from settings. Anonymous (non-registered) session data may be deleted after 24 hours of inactivity.

5. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication session management. We also use analytics cookies (PostHog) to understand how the product is used. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data (available through PDF export and the dashboard)
• Delete your projects and resume data at any time
• Delete your account and all associated data permanently
• Request information about what data we hold about you

7. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Database connections are encrypted. We follow security best practices including row-level security policies, hashed passwords, and minimal data retention.

8. Children

ConvoResume is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
